Happily, my experience as a professional software developer, which dates back to 1983 and includes more than seven years developing Java EE apps, has led me to the point where I prefer developing web apps in Rails.

I’ve been learning and using Rails since the day DHH open-sourced it. Whilst I don’t mind Java, I love Ruby and Rails. They’re a breath of fresh air.

Since the beginning of 2008 I have been working as a freelance software consultant, almost exclusively doing Rails development, through my company Cockatoo Software.
