Working With Rails

Currently working with CLEAR, a Melbourne startup transforming the Australian grain and commodities industry as the User Interface Lead Engineer. Grain trading? Sounds boring, but it’s a massive financial trading platform with a huge market, plenty at stake, and plenty of unique challenges in both the interface design and the code.

Prior to that, I was happily employed with RedBubble, another Melbourne startup working at the intersection of art, design, writing and e-commerce. My role was Senior Software Developer, but over time this grew to include User Experience Design, Agile/Scrum Leader, and good ol’ UI Design.

I Started my Ruby/Rails career with TextDrive in California, where I picked up Rails just a few days after DHH publicly announced it and began work on Strongspace (file sharing), an internal hosting control panel and billing system and (after the merger with Joyent) Bingo Disk and the Joyent Connector.

My opensource projects (including Formtastic, the best Rails Form Builder plugin you’ll ever see) are all hosted on my Github profile, all under the MIT license of course.

I also have a special interest in custom-built CMSs and publication systems built on the Rails framework for companies that can’t find a way to shoehorn their needs into Wordpress or any of the other major CMSs.
