I presented about a specific refactoring project related to my doctoral dissertation at RubyConf2005 in San Diego, CA, and for the Rochester On Rails group.
I have also written a book called Ruby By Example: Concepts and Code, which most differs from other Ruby books in its focus on Ruby’s suitability for functional programming. Perhaps unsurprisingly, my Ruby code tends to use idioms commonly seen in Haskell, expecially return guards in functions.
I was interviewed about my book by Mike Riley for Dr. Dobb’s Journal. It is primarily for an audience new to Ruby, and there is quite a bit of discussion about Perl6, in part due to Mike having recently interviewed Randall Schwartz.
I also maintain a RubyGem called List Utils.
